Since virtual therapy seems like it will be here for a while, we wanted to share some ways we have been motivating our kids to participate and keep the same exercises fresh! Also check out our Teletherapy Ideas Round-Up post for all of our ideas!
- Make a list and a drawing of something – (ex. spiderman and 6 enemies – however many items are on the list). Every time the child finishes an item on the list, one enemy gets crossed off. You can use your imagination as to if it collecting treasure, picking flowers, etc. Base it on your child’s interests!
- Story – following a storyline and incorporating activities in it (princess rescuing prince, treasure hunt, video game, etc.) Check out our longer post for an example of this!
- Activity wheel – You can use this website to create a custom wheel for varied activities! You could also have dice to roll to see how many repetitions, or have the website up twice and one wheel has numbers and one wheel has activities!
- Game of choice – (ex. guess who, number game, I spy) where the child does repetitions of an activity for a question or sustain for a certain amount of time for a question.
What are some of your favorite games to play? Stay tuned for more from us!
